Are the featherson my feet
decorative or functional? |
In the summer, these long
hairs drain the rain away from your hoofs. In
winter, they collect snow & ice to keep them away
from your body. |
| In
wintertime, why are we put out in the pasture during
the day? |
Horses expend a lot of
calories staying warm in winter. I could feed you
more but I’d rather move the herd inside their cozy
stalls at night. Then you have heated water & you
can shed snow & ice from your coat & hooves. |
Why, oh why do my feet get
picked several times a day? |
We remove stones that could
cause sole bruising. Also we clean the frog crevices
so that you will not get the stinky bacteria,
Thrush. |
|
Why does Buster always get to leave the pasture
first? |
Basically, the most powerful
horse gets to leave the pasture & get to their stall
& meal first. Unless you want to fight with Buster,
you’ll have to continue to wait your turn. |
|
Why do some horses get cheated out of snacks? |
Some horses have problems
chewing & could choke on apples & carrots. Other
horses have stomach ailments & need to be fed a
special diet. |
| I
hear that Jesse gets grain 3 times a day. How can I
get this meal plan? |
Sword, when you’re as old as
Jesse, you’ll probably be eating grain, too. Jesse’s
teeth are so worn that he cannot chew hay, so he
needs to get all his nutrition from grain. |
|
Why does Airborne get more hay than me? |
We feed the herd based on
each horse’s individual body weight. We feed about
2%. This means that Airborne gets 30 pounds per day
while you get 16 pounds. |
