Hippotherapy

PPTRC is the first riding center in southern Colorado to offer Hippotherapy. It is therapy done on the back of a horse with results that cannot be duplicated in the traditional clinical setting.

Specially trained Physical, Occupational and Speech therapists evaluate individuals needing this specialized therapy and lead the classes with the help of certified therapeutic riding instructors. Volunteers help with leading the horse & providing support/safety for the rider.

Hippotherapy provides rhythmic three dimensional movement that:

challenges the riders’ balance
improves their posture
strengthens their muscles
reduces their spasticity & increases mobility
helps calm & organize the sensory system
facilitates speech & language skills
