2010 Horse of the Year!

Everyone falls in love with Ally. She’s beautiful, gentle and extremely well-trained, with a background in dressage. She is a draft cross, which gives her strength but not the towering height of a full draft horse. When we go into the pasture, she often comes over as if to say, “Pick me, pick me!”

Ally’s got plenty of go, and independent riders enjoy that in the arena and outside as well. She handles well on the ground which makes her popular with volunteers. Ally was raised locally and her donor is a volunteer here at PPTRC.

Blinkers came to us from a family in New York. He was a hunter show pony, and his rider outgrew him. This paint pony with one blue eye loves to play with his buddies in the pasture and loves to jump.

Chance has a broad resume, from trail riding and shows to previous therapeutic riding work. His solid bay color and beautiful doe eyes really get everyone’s attention. He’s friendly and eager to work, with a high energy walk and a narrow build that’s great in hippotherapy. Chance also enjoys getting out for trail rides and loves to graze!

Echo, Horse of the Year 2004 is a super hippotherapy horse. He is a favorite, especially when therapists decide to change the rider’s position. His springtime flaxen mane is admired by many. He has seen many riders succeed with his movement.

Luke is a local Black Forest boy. He has been a family horse and done some lessons as well. His resemblance to “Black Beauty” is the thing most people first notice about him. His narrow build and quick walk help a wide range of our riders.

Magic has a big walk and a big heart to match. He gives a strong, rhythmic input to his riders, while his leaders and side walkers do their best to match his pace. He is curious about everything and everyone is his friend. We like to say that if he could be a dog he’d be a lap dog. He is large and strong enough to carry adult riders but not too wide for children. He is strikingly handsome with his shiny black coat and kind eye.

Montana came to us with a strong background in therapeutic work. Born and raised in Montana, she started out as a ranch horse before joining a boys ranch as a therapy horse. After coming to Colorado, Montana worked as a lesson horse before joining PPTRC. With her sweet and gentle nature, she has quickly become a favorite with our riders, volunteers and staff.

Storm is an easy going, easy moving guy. He is tall and strong, but gentle and patient at the same time. His background includes trail and pleasure riding, as well as reining. Although he’s big, he’s often chosen for children as they can play all the games they want and Storm takes it all in stride. His crooked blaze gives him a quizzical look – maybe he’s asking where the carrots are.
